Project Liberty

After the World Trade Center’s attack on September 11th, 2001 in New York City, many children and families were emotionally affected by the impact of the event. Y.E.S. was selected as a Community Base Organization (CBO) to provide Individual and group crisis counseling services; and education services to facilitate recovery of individuals and families. Project Liberty, developed in 36 New York public schools, was a program created to mitigate the effect of 9/11 in New York City’s population.

Through Project Liberty, sponsored by The Federal Emergency management Agency (FEMA), Y.E.S. was selected by the Department of Education, the Department of Mental Health and the federal government to provide services in 56 Public schools. Y.E.S. provided group crisis counseling for children, parents, and education for teachers and school staff from 2002 to 2004.
