Parenting Skills Program

Y.E.S. Parenting Skills is a psycho-educational program providing practical tools to help parents to detect, prevent and resolve social problems: Such as violence, alcohol and drug abuse, teenage pregnancy, dropout, gangs, depression, and anxiety, and others that are confronted during childhood and adolescents.

Y.E.S. Parenting Skills is a psycho-educational program providing practical tools to help parents to detect, prevent and resolve social problems: Such as violence, alcohol and drug abuse, teenage pregnancy, dropout, gangs, depression, and anxiety, and others that are confronted during childhood and adolescents. 

The core of the workshop is to detect the child’s early symptoms in order to provide appropriate referrals if needed. Throughout the program, parents will learn how to effectively communicate to their children and gain a deeper insight of major issues concerning their children’s development. Furthermore, Y.E.S. Parenting Skills provides the opportunity for parents to learn how their own behavior, unresolved issues, family patterns can contributes to their children’s behavior. SFP provides parents the opportunity to share common concerns and verbalize their feelings in a non-judgmental environment. Parents learn different techniques that may can apply in their daily life. 

Furthermore, Y.E.S. Parenting Skills provides the opportunity for parents to learn how their own behavior, unresolved issues and negative social family atmosphere can have a negative impact on their children’s behavior. Importantly, parents will learn the process of how their drug, alcohol, depression, stress and anxiety can have an affect on their children’s learning ability and social growth. 

The program ‘Y.E.S. Parenting Skills’ comprehends 3 levels, designed to be given in sequential order. 
Duration: The first two levels have 10 workshops and the third level just five. Every workshop intends to help the parents to develop (unfold) new skills gradually during 10 weeks; where at the end of them the parents will reach a positive behavior modification. Each workshop lasts 1 hour and thirty minutes.
Languages: The program is also available and specially tailored for immigrant parents, provided in Spanish, Hindi and Chinese.

We do not list “Abuse” and “Family Violence” as topics, however we include them in every workshop from different points of view.
